„Am absolvit sectia de Asistenta Sociala din cadrul Facultatii de Sociologie si Asistenta Sociala si mi-am dorit sa-mi continui studiile in aceeasi directie. Cand am inceput sa caut un master potrivit pentru mine, mi-am dorit sa fie unul cu o programa care sa puna accent mai mult pe partea practica. Despre masterul de Grupuri de Risc si Servicii Sociale de Suport nu stiam mai nimic (mai ales ca era primul an in care se tinea) insa programa mi s-a parut foarte interesanta, asa ca am decis sa aplic. Spre marea mea bucurie, asteptarile nu mi-au fost inselate. Tot ce am invatat aici m-a ajutat sa pun intr-o lumina proaspata toate cunostintele anterioare de asistenta sociala, facand treptat trecerea de la teorie la practica. In acelasi timp, am gasit un mediu cu oameni veniti din diferite domenii, energici si dornici de schimbare. Profesorii sunt disponibili si apropiati de studenti. Informatiile oferite sunt bine selectate si de ultima ora.

Courses

The courses comprised in the study plan are focused on the problems of the risk groups and social support services. The teaching methods are modern: power point presentations, documentaries, access to international data bases.


Semester I


Cursuri Semestrul 1

International perspectives in social work (Doru Buzducea): theories and debates at international and European level on social work, European Framework of Qualifications in social work, globalization of social problems and risk groups, comparative systems of social work, types of social services for risk groups, social rights, social networks and systems.

Social politics and programs for homeless people (Adrian Dan): a hystorical and conceptual approach, modern causes of the phenomena, phenomena diagnosis in Romania and in the world, explicative theories, social politics and programs, European programs.

Human traffic victims: services and specialized interventions (Monica Alexandru): human risks of the human trafficking, characteristics of the human trafficking, prevention methids and fight against human traffic, reintegration measures of the victims, cross-border approach in fighting against human traffic.

Sociology of the body and social risks (Gabriel Jderu): the body in classic and modern sociology, body and gender: masculinity and feminity in the modern society, social construction of the body and social risks, social emotions and the body: embarassement and nudity dramaturgy, the body in interpersonal relations, the body as a social investment (sports, estetic surgery, piercing, tattoos).


Semester II


Cursuri Semestrul 2

Anthropology of risk groups (Liviu Chelcea): concept of the cities and urban life, neighborhood - community - urban village - urban, ghettos and poverty culture, closed neighborhoods and social segregation, gentrification of central areas, suburban cities, urban history, urban reconversion and aindustrialisation, "global cities".

Intervention methods in domestic violence (Ana Rădulescu): research concerning domestic violence, theoretical explanations, risk factors which facilitate violence development, evaluation of the risk of victimization and answer to violence, develompent of social services for assisting domestic violence victims and agressors.

Refugees and multi ethnic communities (Smaranda Witec): immigrations problems, refugee experience, international protection framework, national asylum system, ethnic minorities in Romania, social support for refugees and multi ethnic communities, socio- cultural aspects in assisting refugees and people from multi ethnic communities.

HIV prevention within vulnerable and disadvantaged groups (Marian Ursan): drug use and commercial sex, evaluation infestation risks, harm reduction programs management for vulnerable groups, prevention of burn out phenomena for the social workers.


Semester III


Cursuri Semestrul 3

Private initiatives in social work (Theodora Ene): introduction in social work management, innovative social work services, social work in private environment, from social marketing to corporate social responsibility, legislation and standards concerning the social responsability of corporation, interested parties in CSR, development of CSR campaigns.

Disaster Management (Mircea Botescu): the typology of disaster generated crisis, emergency situations - component of crisis management, civil protection - the basis for disaster management, protection of critical infrastructure, protection and psychological assistance in emergy situtions, medical management in disaster situations, social work in emergency situations, organizing social assistance in izolated areas, cooperation between social assistance and distaster intervention experts.

Problems of the elderly (Aurelia Curaj): growing old, the social impact of illness and functional dependency associated with growing old, complex geriatric evaluation, quality of life for the elderly, social and medical risks for the elderly, social politics for the elderly.

Curative pedagogy for the persons with disabilities (Mihaela Cozărescu): persons with disabilities, neuromotor handicaps, intellect handicaps, senzorial handicaps, theories in sociotherapy and curative pedagogy, evaluation of social services, resilience, capacity to cope with difficult situations.


Semester IV


Cursuri Semestrul 4

Strategies to work with persons with conflict with the law (Ioan Durnescu): behavioral rehabilitation of criminals, correctional paradigms, estimatice relapse risks, juvenile justice, probation versus prison, practice models, working with criminals individualy and in groups, models for interventions evaluation.

Disorders present in alcohol and drug addicted persons (Luminiţa Mihai): alcohol and illegal drugs, theories about drug use, classification of substances and disorders caused by alcohol and illegal drugs use, bifocal treatment, family therapy.

European regulations concerning cross border criminality (Valeriu Fîrţală): states and unions of states, immigrants communities in EU, state and cross border criminality,  European institutions with a role in managing cross border criminality phenomena.

Social research of risk groups (Marian Preda/Florin Lazăr): definitions of the main concepts (small populations, hard to reach populations, hidden populations, marginal populations, excluded populations etc.), characteristics of marginal risk groups, methods for estimating the size of marginal / hidden populations (the capture - recapture method and the method of adjustable clusters), quantitatvie methods to estimate the characteristics of marginal/ hidden populations (sampling using the snow ball method and sampling by redirection from the respondent - RDS), institutional sampling as a method to research marginal groups, ethical problems.
